[edit] Welcome to the Geeks in Boston Wiki!
This new wiki is a place to learn about the people, organizations, and events that comprise the geek community in Boston. Please help us build it!
Please note that this is an attempt to describe many overlapping communities in time, space, and shared interest. Our goal is to be inclusive, so please join us in describing the groups and people which have been inspirational to you.
Pages in this wiki are organized into a number of Categories:
- People - individual pages for humans. A great way to get started is to add a page for yourself, linking to your interests, businesses, and friends.
- Tech - a page for any subject a geek might find interesting, like Python or Synthetic Biology or Robotics.
- Calendars - sources to find quality geek events in the Near Future
- Events - local gatherings for geeks, from User Groups to Conferences.
- Organizations - pages for businesses and other local institutions. Please include unbiased information that potential employees would want to know, like what tech you use, how many employees you have, etc., but don't write any pitches.
- Companies - established businesses.
- Startups - small, new businesses.
- Business Ideas - go here if you've got a goal and want to form a team.
- Non-Profits - non-profit organizations working either on local tech issues, or involving local tech people.
- Universities - our many great universities offer a lot of activities for geeks.
[edit] How do I create a page?
There are two main ways:
- Click on any red link on the wiki, which is the title of a page that hasn't yet been created. Clicking it will take you to the Editing window, and saving content you enter there will create the page.
- Type the name of a page into the Search box on the left, and press Go. If the page hasn't yet been created, the search results will give you the option of creating the page.
[edit] Want to do more?
Help us define the Mission of this Wiki, or write up some of the red links on the List of Wanted Pages. Ask questions or make suggestions on any page using the discussion tab.
